Primacy and Episcopacy

by Charles R. Ajalat (taken from a larger article) ONE OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF SIN IN OUR FALLEN WORLD IS THIS TENSION IN CHURCH ADMINISTRATION BETWEEN POWER AND HOLINESS; BETWEEN HAVING THE EFFICIENCY OF A SINGLE HUMAN DECISION-MAKER AND ALTERNATIVELY A SYSTEM WHERE EVERYONE IS SO CONSTANTLY FILLED WITH THE GRACE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT […]

On Israel

by Bishop Kallistos of Diokleia Making my way home at Oxford in the evening, I used to pass a hotdog seller who always greeted me in a cheerful and friendly tone with the words, “Good night, rabbi.” Surely, I thought, it is an honor to be so addressed, for “rabbi,” “teacher,” is exactly what Jesus […]

Cyril on Ten Points of Doctrine

Cyril of Jerusalem (ca. 313 – 386) Colossians 2:8-9 LEB Beware lest anyone take you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world and not according to Christ, (9) because in him all the fullness of deity dwells bodily I. Eclectic : deriving ideas from a broad and diverse range of Christian sources and Traditions.

Orthodoxy : correct, right or true things, from ὀρθός ‎(orthós, “correct”) + δόξα ‎(dóxa, “way, opinion”).

“No doctrine concerning the divine and saving mysteries of the faith, however trivial, may be taught without the backing of the holy Scriptures. We must not let ourselves be drawn aside by mere persuasion and cleverness of speech. Do not even give absolute belief to me, the one who tells you these things, unless you receive proof from the divine Scriptures of what I teach. For the faith that brings us salvation acquires its force, not from fallible reasonings, but from what can be proved out of the holy Scriptures.” Cyril of Jerusalem (ca. 313-386)
